The purpose of the Alternative School is to create a collaborative effort to address the educational and social needs of at-risk students, who have problems with personal and social behavior in a typical student setting, by establishing a neutral setting in which students' problems can be assessed and solutions can be explored. The school promotes corrective thinking and establishes boundaries providing a safe and productive work environment that allows the student to achieve academic success.

The Warren County Alternative School is a past winner of two BEST Practice awards and is one of the largest alternative schools in the state. It has been used as a model for other programs.
